    SPANISH WIND MAKER MOVES INTO INDIA

    Gamesa reinforces its presence in Asia by starting up its first production center in India; With an initial wind energy production capacity of 200 MW per year...

    "Gamesa, [a Spanish] company specialising in sustainable energy technologies, mainly wind power, has launched its operations in India with the setting up of an Indian subsidiary, Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt. Ltd...in the Red Hills area next to the city of Chennai.

    "The new [facility] - to produce G 58/850 Kw Wind Turbine- is equipped with an initial production capacity of 200 MW per year and will employ more than 100 people. The company has just contracts in India and neighbouring countries for a total power output of 60 MW."

    "The plant is equipped with the most advanced production management systems to reduce production timescales and costs...The industrial process will be complemented with the ongoing development of local suppliers for the supply of components and materials...

    "The new facility is the result of a strategic wager placed by Gamesa to establish itself industrially in markets having high-growth potential and to achieve greater production capacity at more competitive conditions...The new project reinforces too the presence of Gamesa in Asia...[It already has a Chines] production capacity of 1,000 MW per year..."

    "[The company] has installed more than 16,000 MW of wind energy around the world... It has built and started-up 146 wind farms totaling more than 3,578 MW and has a portfolio with almost 23,000 MW of wind power in different stages of development throughout Europe, America and Asia."
